The newest member of The Princess Troupe, Maverick, stopped and played a real-life prince by rescuing me and giving me a ride when my old clunker of a car broke down. This fortuitous event allowed me to make it to the audition on time to become the new lead singer for The Lost Boys' band. Seriously, I'm now their frontwoman, which is a dream come true. However, the guitarist I'm crushing on only sees me as a cute little mascot, while the guy who's crushing on me? Well, I don't see him at all.
If it weren't for Maverick's timely intervention, I never would have made it to the audition, let alone land the gig. I showed up in a Tinkerbell costume, not exactly the vision of a "hot rocker chick." Yet, somehow, I got the job. And I owe it all to Maverick's act of kindness. He even went the extra mile by giving me a ride home afterward, which was really going above and beyond for a new work acquaintance.
But when Maverick tried to kiss me at the end of the night, we've officially entered uncharted territory. This can't be real; we live in two different worlds. Someone needs to tell this star football player that girls like me are not his usual type. Thankfully, he's said he's cool with being friends first, so I'll take it. Friends I can do.
Besides, it looks like I'm going to need all the friends I can get as I prove to my new band that I'm not some kid who likes to play dress-up. I'm a grown-up. Mostly. Just... don't challenge me to a game of Never Have I Ever.
Now, as the new lead singer, I have to show The Lost Boys that I'm serious about this gig and not just the "cute little mascot" the guitarist sees me as. It's time to step up and demonstrate my musical chops, not just my costume-wearing skills. I may have landed the job in a Tinkerbell outfit, but now I need to earn the respect of my bandmates through hard work and dedication.
Navigating this new dynamic with Maverick adds an extra layer of complexity, but I'm determined to keep things professional. We'll be friends, nothing more. After all, he's a star football player, and I'm just the weird fairy girl in the band. Our worlds don't align, and I need to remember that. For now, my focus is on proving myself to The Lost Boys and making this musical dream a reality.
